When you hear the word monopoly you probably think of owning

 properties or bankruptcy and even free parking but, did you know

  that you can monopolize in a conversation? Monopolizing in

 communication usually is a selfish act of hogging the stage by

 continually focusing communication on ourselves instead of the

 person talking. The term monopolizing actually can be broken

 down in two typical forms says  Julia T. wood author of 

 communications in our lives The first tactic is conversational

  rerouting  which is flipping the conversation  to themselves .The

 second tactic is diversionary interrupting which is  cutting in,  in

ways that disrupts the speaker. monopolizing is a form of non

 listening and is an all to often occurence  and ,is not a good form of

 communication . With time and practice monopolizing can be

 avoided.
